Questions To Ask Yourself or Your Team To Begin Your Process

This is a list of questions for those who are familiar with commercial construction projects and processes. You can print this to keep for your personal use. Please be as specific and clear as possible. The Questions are shown "BELOW" the box where you can write your answers!
• What stage is the design currently in (conceptual, schematic, design development, construction documents)?
• Have there been multiple design iterations or significant changes to scope?
• What is causing delays in finalizing the design?
• Are there any unusual site conditions or requirements that are impacting design solutions?
• Which permits have been applied for and what's their current status?
• Have there been any comments or major corrections from plan reviewers?
• Are there any zoning or conditional use approvals required?
• Have there been any community or neighborhood opposition issues?
• Is there a complete design team in place (architect, engineers, specialty consultants)?
• How is communication flowing between owner, design team, and other stakeholders?
• Are there any current issues with anyone involved in the project design and planning?
• Is project financing secured and in place?
• Have preliminary budgets been estimated and reviewed with the current design concepts?
• Are there any value engineering or cost cutting pending?
• Have current market conditions impacted initial budget assumptions?
• What is causing the delay in starting construction?
• Are there any seasonal or weather constraints that could impact the start date?
• Are there any lease obligations, financial situations or business commitments driving the schedule?
